One of the most innovative products designed
and produced by PulseTech is a line of thyratrons
with non-heated cathode or pseudospark switches
TPI- and TDI-series.
The tubes are intended for use as closing switches in pulsed power
offering cost-effective solutions in environmentally safe,
energy-saving technology.
Presently Pulsed Technologies Ltd offer a range of
the thyratrons for:
- medium and high power
- high voltages from 1 kV up to 150 kV
- peak currents from 500 A up to 200 kA
The design of the thyratrons is protected
by RF patents (Nos 1792207, 1807798 и 2089003), the Inventor's
certificate №20201 and International Patent CT/RU 2005/000298. Priority
is effective since 02.06.2005.

The need for the pseudospark
switches was caused by the fact that new power technologies
require a reliable, simple and cost-saving switch.
Now the absence of hot cathode:
- leads to considerably higher
service life of the switch - 10 000 times more than for spark
gaps and tens times more than for conventional pulse thyratrons
- simplifies circuitry
- allows the switch to have the
highest surge capability
- gives the most low weight,
compact and affordable switch for the achieved electrical
parameters.

hollow cathode thyratrons
operating in superdense glow and arc discharge. Intended for switching
of charge up to 10E-4 ... 10E-1 C per pulse. These thyratrons can be
used in applications such as pulse power supplies for lasers,
electrophysics and testing equipment with frequency up to 50 kHz, pulse
width 5...50000 ns.

- power and very high power thyratrons (copper-arc
thyratrons) capable of switching up to some 10 C per
pulse. The thyratrons can be used as environmentally safe
substitute of mercury ignitrons.
TDI-thyratrons
are available in SN-configuration,
when the switch does not require for permanent heating of hydrogen
reservoir. |
